This evening-length work investigated how body parts create an individual, examining how physical tissue, energetic pulse, and chemical interaction make us think, move, react, communicate, and emote. Into these dance creations about the body, it wove thoughts about ability and explored how the weight of our parts differ in life and death. The work included a long-distance collaboration with guest dancer, Ying Zhu and a local collaboration with Teri Westerman, founder and director of Spoke N Motion Dance (Colorado’s only fully integrated dance company). This performance was made possible by a Neodata Endowment Grant from Boulder County Arts Alliance and by many generous individual donors! (Images by Benjamin Smith)
