Shaping the NOW (2008)

This evening of dance focused on how we each have the ability to shape our environment, and how our environment may change or affect us in turn. The concert featured dance biographies based in interviews of community members and sound scores that wove text from individual interviews into specialized works about the impact of a teacher on her students, the struggles of a lesbian to be herself during the start of Stonewall, a transgendered man’s look at the progression of his life in varying shades of grey, and a gaze at one woman’s view of her body through the lens of fashion magazines and societal body ideals and criticisms.
